The Abbey of Saint-Remy

Behind the mysterious walls of the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Saint-Remy, one of the best beers in the world is brewed in secret: the Trappist 'Rochefort'. A visit inside this "abbey of silence" is therefore not for everyone. However, the estate, situated on a unique hill about 2 km from the city center, is certainly worth a visit.

As for the brewing of the Trappist Rochefort, legend has it that the water used for the Trappist, one of the most important raw materials for Trappist beer, comes directly from the spring where the Tridaine river rises. This spring water is said to be responsible for the unique and pure taste that makes Rochefort so special.
