Located between Liège and Maastricht, Blegny Mine is one of only four authentic coal mines in Europe where visitors can still access the underground galleries. Descend by mine lift into a completely different world. During your visit, you will see demonstrations of the machinery and underground equipment that were once used in the mine. You will also learn about the daily lives of the miners, their joys, concerns, fears and working conditions. Afterwards, discover the secrets of the sorting and washing facilities, from the arrival of the coal to its transport. The supply wagons, screens, loading hoppers, systems for loading and unloading the mine carts, purification installations, washing facilities and storage areas all illustrate the different stages of coal processing.
