Chapelle Notre-Dame de Lorette

Want to combine a panoramic view of the Moulin de Rochefort with a brisk walk? We definitely recommend the hike towards the Caves of Lorette. Located next to the entrance of the caves is the 'Chapelle de Lorette', which dates back to the 17th century. Legend has it that Countess Josine de la Marck, wife of Théodore de Löwenstein, Count of Rochefort, had this chapel built when she was about to find her child, who had been kidnapped by a monkey... Legend or not, the chapel offers historical value because the choir dates from 1625 and is a reproduction of the Santa Casa de Loretto in Italy.

Over the years, extensive renovations have been carried out, including the installation of new windows; however, the bell in the bell tower and the cross remain the originals from that time. Next to the chapel is a large crucifix which, according to the inscription in the stone, was blessed on August 4, 1645 (!). The underground chapel represents the Tomb of the Reclining Christ.
