Caves of Hotton 

The Caves of Hotton are an exceptional natural heritage site in the heart of the Ardennes and have been awarded two stars by the Michelin Guide. The caves were formed as rainwater seeped into the limestone plateau and eventually returned to the surface near Hampteau via an underground river. They developed through the slow chemical dissolution of limestone, combined in part with erosion caused by water carrying small amounts of sand. The six-kilometre-long network of passages reaches a depth of approximately 70 metres beneath the plateau. In the lowest section, an underground river flows permanently.
