Bastogne War Museum
The Bastogne War Museum is located just a stone’s throw from the famous Mardasson Memorial. It is one of the most important memorial sites dedicated to the Second World War in the Ardennes and in Belgium. Particular attention is given to the Battle of the Bulge.
This unique memorial centre, dedicated to the Second World War, focuses on the remarkable history of the Battle of the Bulge. Visitors are immersed in the events through three multisensory presentations. They follow the stories of four characters caught up in the conflict. Through recreated settings, testimonies, multimedia installations and films, the visitor experience appeals to both the emotions and the intellect. Everyone is drawn personally into this history. Interactive displays along the route are designed especially for younger visitors and school groups. Guided activities on various themes are also available upon reservation.
Special objects bring both the ‘small’ stories of individuals and the ‘great’ history of nations to life. In addition to its permanent exhibition, the Bastogne War Museum regularly presents temporary display cases as part of the ‘Bulles d’Histoire’ project. These temporary displays change and evolve depending on loans, partnerships and donations received by the museum. Their purpose? To introduce visitors to new and remarkable objects with powerful stories behind them. Each object tells its own story. Sometimes they are linked to a specific theme, and sometimes they stand entirely on their own.
